Our Associates

Brightstone Clinic hand picks a small number of associates who compliment the work of our clinic. Associates are therapists who are well known to us and who we have worked with for a number of years. They are highly experienced and trusted practitioners who can offer therapeutic services that our in-house clinicians do not. So, on occasion, when you contact the clinic, we may refer you to one of our associates if we feel that they would be better qualified and suited to supporting your needs at this time.

Louise Jewkes

Accredited Member of the BACP

EMDR UK

Louise is an accredited member of the BACP who attained a Graduate Diploma in Person-Centred Counselling. Louise's experience and education has given her a grounding in helping to create a safe space in which therapy is tailored to suit the client’s needs.

As a trainee therapist Louise worked for two local charities, working with children and young people aged between 5 and 19. This sparked an interest in attachment issues and developmental trauma. As a qualified therapist, Louise began to work with adults, as well as children, to help them to recover from childhood trauma.

Louise’s interest in working with trauma led her to do her basic training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitising and Reprocessing). Louise has used EMDR with a number of adult clients to help them recover from issues ranging from phobias to childhood trauma and PTSD. However Louise wished to continue working with children and young people and so decided to do her Child EMDR (Level 1) training.

One of Louise’s strengths is her ability to work creatively and to think outside the box to help clients to achieve their therapeutic goals. Louise often uses art as a means of helping clients to express their thoughts and feelings when words are not enough.

Louise is happy to offer either face-to-face sessions or online via Zoom.

Diane Styne

I have been offering psychological therapy for over 20 years and in more recent years this has included Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) trauma therapy. Many of these years have been spent working therapeutically with young people who have been removed from their birth families due to experience of developmental trauma. As is well known, experiences in early childhood shape the psychological health of adults. My passion lies in sharing the journey of adolescents and adults of any age and helping them to ‘join the dots’ and make sense of their present difficulties, often in relation to the past with a view to helping inform their future.

I work with a range of emotional difficulties including complex trauma, PTSD, depression, anxiety and psychosis using EMDR and talking therapy depending on what is deemed to be most helpful in each individual case.

I am an accredited therapist with the BACP and have qualifications in Person Centred, Systemic and Psychodynamic therapy as well as EMDR training with adults and children. I  offer therapy now to adults and adolescents, including parents carers of younger children. I also have significant experience in providing consultation and supervision to professionals working with traumatised children.

Since the lockdown of 2020 my therapeutic work has been online and in my experience this has so far worked very positively, although I acknowledge this way of working is not the preference for everyone.

I can also support people struggling with maintaining a healthy lifestyle, for example, poor sleep, motivation, taking part in physical activity, mental health and general wellbeing, as well as those at risk of type 2 diabetes / pre-diabetes / diabetes remission or having difficulty with managing or adjusting to type 2 diabetes.

As a Health Psychologist, I understand fully that change is a process; an investment with yourself. Creating any new habits and breaking old habits takes time. Engaging in psychological therapy can help people to become aware of where and how they may be feeling ‘stuck’ and/or bring to light the barriers to change. Taking account of the ‘whole self’ and using a holistic approach can help to build the skills and knowledge needed to create healthy habits.

My mission is to empower people to connect the mind and body. I truly believe that we can all find ways to live a healthy and fulfilling life if we have the right support, information and psychological tools needed to help make lasting changes.

Ann Lowe

Healing in Nature Practitioner

Hello, I’m Ann, and I hold space for people to reconnect with our earth through Healing in Nature Walks in the North West of England.

With curiosity, we can go outside, onto the land, and tap into a huge intelligence that is ready and waiting to guide us… that has been there all along.

By walking outdoors and opening ourselves up to our environment, we can connect to the land and gain healing, information or guidance for many situations we face. My role is to facilitate this, to ask questions, make observations and feed back to you.

How might this help you?

You can:

Gain a different perspective on your current challenges

Make decisions that are complex or multi layered

Connect more with your heart, with the trees, plants and animals

Find a new path or new ways of being in your work or relationships

Feel a greater connection to yourself and the environment

Enhance creativity, by connecting and working with the metaphor and symbolism you see around you

Slow down and calm down your nervous system

Re-gain confidence in going out after the pandemic

Gently introduce walking and movement after illness or social withdrawal, such as recovering from ME, long COVID or after surgery

Julie Forrest – fully booked

Cognitive Behavioural and Compassion Focused Therapist

I'm a fully qualified and accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist with a Postgraduate Certificate in Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT). I work with a range of issues from social and health anxiety, excessive worry, OCD, PTSD and depression. However, over the years I have specialised in working with people who experienced difficulties in early life. Often we can be completely unaware of the impact these things had on us. In adult life this shows itself as high levels of anxiety, self-criticism, low mood, feeling overwhelmed by emotions, feeling like a failure, feeling alone, blaming yourself for everything, feeling guilty and not being able to put your needs forward.

Our journey together would entail us understanding what might have contributed to your current view of yourself, what fears and concerns you might have and how you now cope with those. By understanding these patterns with compassion and courage you will be able to make the changes you need in order to live the life you want to live.

By working together you will learn to develop self-compassion, cope with your emotions with feeling overwhelmed by them, assert yourself, engage in self-care, pull back from self-criticism and develop confidence, strength and courage. If you wish to discuss therapy further I offer free telephone consultations.
