Stephen Peake

Peron Centred Counsellor

For appointments, contact the clinic on 01270 748448 or email info@brightstoneclinic.co.uk

Hello and a warm welcome, I’m Stephen.

I have a wealth of experience with working with adults, young people and children, having worked within the Mental Health Services and Children’s Social Care. I work with clients to help them achieve their goals, working collaboratively with them to overcome, manage or move on from difficulties in their lives.

I believe in supporting clients to realise and develop their skills in managing difficulties and living the life they are seeking. Anyone of us may experience a challenging time or unexpected life changing event. It takes courage, honesty and commitment to confront whatever is concerning you. You don't have to explore this on your own.

I believe everyone has the potential to find their owns ways of getting through difficult times and painful experiences. By providing a comfortable environment and appropriate support, where we feel safe and accepted for who we are and how we are feeling, creates the conditions to enable a person to be honest, open and willing for self-exploration.

For appointments, contact the clinic on 01270 748448 or email info@brightstoneclinic.co.uk

I’m qualified in person centred therapy and currently studying a foundation course in CBT.

This overwhelm can affect many parts of our lives and can bring fear, distress and loneliness.

I offer Couples in Counselling the opportunity to connect with each other again through a therapeutic relationship based on trust, acceptance, openness and collaboration. My work is centred around Couples with Relationship issues, from younger couples to older couples. But I also work with relationships impacted by Loss, Health issues and Bereavement, a Caring role and the Stress of change as we move through life’s varying stages.

Dr Jessica Dean

Consultant Clinical Psychologist MA (hons) Psychology, D.Clin.Psy, HCPC Registered.

For appointments, contact the clinic on 01270 748448 or email info@brightstoneclinic.co.uk

I am a Consultant Clinical Psychologist with over 20 years’ experience providing psychological assessments and therapy to people with physical health conditions. My qualifications include an MA (Hons) Psychology Degree (1998) and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (2003). I am also a qualified EMDR practitioner. I am registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

What do I offer?

Having a physical health condition often has a profound impact on a person’s emotional wellbeing which can significantly impact their quality of life. Sometimes this is a direct result of the illness itself or sometimes the impact of its treatment. I am experienced in providing a safe space to explore and process the psychological and emotional aspects of a person’s ill health experience (something which is often overlooked in traditional medical care). I have many years’ experience doing so with the following conditions:

oncology/cancer, cardiac issues, renal failure, diabetes, chronic fatigue syndrome, long covid, significant bodily changes due to accident or ill health, pre surgical psychological assessments (e.g mastectomy, hysterectomy, plastic surgery).

I am also experienced in supporting the psychological needs of people who are receiving end of life or palliative care.

In addition, I provide psychological therapy and support to healthcare staff who may be experiencing difficulties because of their professional work as health care providers (stress, anxiety, depression, burnout and trauma). This work focusses on the importance of self-care in healthcare providers so that they can then provide the best quality of care to their patients. I have worked with many different healthcare practitioners including nurses, medics, healthcare managers and allied healthcare professionals including those who are still in training.

For appointments, contact the clinic on 01270 748448 or email info@brightstoneclinic.co.uk

I also provide group training workshops to healthcare teams who would like to learn more about how to support the psychological needs of clients who are experiencing long term health conditions.

I have published several articles relating to the above areas of clinical expertise and contributed to the development of online training materials for healthcare teams. I promote the use of a respectful, collaborative approach to healthcare that promotes shared decision making and includes equal focus upon a person’s psychological/emotional wellbeing as well as their physical health needs.

The therapeutic approaches I most commonly use are Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Motivational interviewing (MI), Compassion Focussed therapy (CFT), Solution Focussed Brief Therapy (SFBT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Regulation (EMDR).

I offer both in person and online appointments.

Linda Hough

Integrative Counsellor

For appointments, contact the clinic on 01270 748448 or email info@brightstoneclinic.co.uk

From the time you were born, right up until this moment, I suspect you will have managed, maybe even survived, several difficult experiences and situations, sometimes on your own.   It may be you are now facing yet another difficult situation that just feels too overwhelming, or maybe there are experiences from your past that you have been unable to let go of and which are holding you back, or maybe you have lost your direction and the future is feeling out of control.  Whatever brings you here reading my profile, looking for a therapist, you have taken a very important first step.  It is ok, and it is common, for there to be times when you just feel the need to look beyond your usual network of support from family and friends.

Yes, counselling can at times feel challenging but it can also bring a sense of relief, it can expose your vulnerability but it can bring you a sense of freedom.  I believe counselling is all about self awareness and acceptance which then leads to changes in the way you can respond to those difficulties you are facing and grappling with.  You may even feel a renewed sense of who you are and your purpose in life; the impact of counselling is far more than merely talking.

If you decide to work with me, I will not be telling you what to do, or how to think or feel but I will make sure your voice is heard without any judgement, and that you feel understood and supported in exploring those feelings, thoughts and behaviours which are preventing you from living the best version of yourself at this time.  We will work together in finding a way forward that feels right for you.

I strongly believe in the power of the relationship between you the client, and myself the therapist, for it is this that provides a solid foundation on which to build trust before any meaningful change can take place.

I can also provide a welcoming, private and confidential space here at Brightstone Clinic.

About me

I have over 30 years of experience in the field of health and social care, working with children (residential care), young people and adults.  As a former Macmillan professional in an acute NHS setting for 13 years, I have supported patients and their families affected by cancer. It was during this time, I undertook professional counselling training but in 2022, I decided to leave the NHS to pursue my own private counselling practice and create time to explore new opportunities.  As an integrative therapist, I use different counselling approaches in response to your needs.

I also joined the team at Staffordshire and Cheshire Equine Psychotherapy in 2022 and am currently exploring the use of Walk and Talk Therapy within my practice.

Sian Williams

MSc Counselling Psychology, Therapeutic Counselling Supervision, Member of the BACP

Hello and a warm welcome, I’m Sian.

I’m a qualified counsellor dedicated to working with adults, young people, families and groups, with a specialism in supporting those moving through life transitions.

If you are moving through life feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, suppressed, stuck or struggling to keep up with expectations, it can be all too easy to believe there's something inherently wrong with you, like you are broken or missing some essential part. However In a world perpetually filled with ever increasing demands and stressors, I think our personal struggles can often be a reflection of broader societal dynamics rather than our own personal failings.

In therapy, my role is to help you reconnect with and listen to your authentic self, and reclaim a sense of wholeness, away from the noise of those external demands. Many people I’ve worked with have reached pivotal moments of burnout or crisis, where they realised they could no longer sustain their current way of being, whether it was due to illness, redundancy, relationship breakdowns, trauma or mental health crises. And while these moments often leave us feeling overwhelmed, stuck or unable to move forward, they can also be a turning point.

I draw on a blend of theories, techniques, and psycho-education and offer a space of safety and confidentiality where you can explore new perspectives, reconnect with yourself, and discover pathways to live more fully.

I offer either short-term or longer-term therapy. For shorter-term work, we can focus on exploring what’s happening for you right now, and explore the practical changes you can make that can become a catalyst for living life differently. Longer-term work can include looking at patterns which may stem from childhood, and connecting more deeply with yourself, perhaps finding new patterns or ways of being that enable us to live more fully.  That may be informed by nature and living in tune with the seasons and the world around us and/or more compassionate ways of being

As well as supporting people through transitions, I regularly work with Trauma, Abuse, Power/disempowerment, Relationships, Sexuality, Gender, Offending and CJS involvement, Bereavement, Loss, Change, Education, Caring, Anxiety, Depression, Identity, Confidence/Self Esteem.

I also offer group work, specifically for women who are experiencing life-transitions such as becoming a mother, loss of relationships, menopause, career change or caring responsibilities.
